Creative x Life

SUNY Fredonia invited me to speak to 200+ students in the Visual Arts and New Media Department last week. I spent a lot of time thinking about what to share — the group was filled with students from all different paths, studying all different things (illustration, painting, animation, design, and more…). I wanted to make sure the things shared were helpful and could be taken and put into action for the students.

I’ve never had a jazz pianist play for folks as they entered the lecture hall and filled the room. We settled in and spent an hour talking about creative life, and all of the ups and downs that come with it. I shared a bunch of work and stories to support the “10 things” I’ve learned during my career. It was a great night filled with lots of questions and laughs. Below are just a few highlights from our chat. Feel free to reach out if you want to see the full lecture. I’m likely going to split it into a lot of content bits for social media.
